The Differences

1. Unlike the Western culture which undergoes a lot of changes with the flow of time, the Eastern culture has not developed this way and many old traditions are still kept alive.
2. The Eastern culture is defined by a variety of different Gods and religions. However, in the Western culture, there is only one God and most people are Christians.
3. The Eastern culture is based on the long-standing ancient traditions and rules. The West can break the rules and change them with the development.
4. The West tries to discover this world while the East is not keen on modern technologies.
5. People from the Western culture can express their opinion straightforwardly and concisely. They do not use very complex sentences and words. However, the people from the Eastern culture often use such constructions and insert citations.
6. In the case of the Western culture, the person is first unlike the Eastern culture where people live for the sake of others.
7. People from the West try to solve a problem in the shortest way unlike the people from the East who contemplate a lot and will do their best to find the other solution.
8. The Eastern and Western cultures greatly vary in the mood and the weather. In the case of the balmy weather, all people will be happy, but the people from the East will be happy even in the case of rain unlike the people from the West who tend to get frustrated with bad weather.
9. The old people from the Western culture devote their spare time to animals or traveling, but the people from the East try to devote most their free time to their children, families, and relatives.
10. In the case of Western culture, the boss is treated as the usual worker who can even be your companion but in the Eastern culture, the boss is the wisest in the company and people hold him in high esteem.
11. The transport system also differs. For instance, in 1970 the most common means of transport in the West was a car while in the East people went by bicycles. However, in the year 2006, it became vice versa. People from the East go mostly by cars, whereas the people from the West strive to go by bicycles.
12. When traveling, people from the West try to see all the famous sights unlike the people from the East who tend to film everything they observe.
13. In terms of food, the people from the West prefer eastern food, whereas the people from the East prefer European cuisine.

Raspberry Pi: Four fantastic projects that show what's possible with the $35 board

The Raspberry Pi family of computers had another stellar year in 2017, with more than 17 million boards sold and the $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W released.
In its annual review for the year, the charitable foundation behind the tiny board, the Raspberry Pi Foundation, highlighted successes ranging from its essay topics in education outreach helping 150,000 children to 8.5 million people learning via its online projects.

C-Turtle

This inspirational use of the low-cost computer could one day literally save lives.
Traditionally clearing landmines has required expensive robots, due to the need for the bots to survive multiple blasts.
Scientists at Arizona State University used the Pi to create a very different kind of bot. The C-Turtle is robotics on a shoestring, with a shell and turtle flippers made out of cardboard and running on a $5 Raspberry Pi Zero. Despite its low cost the bot is adaptable, using machine learning to teach itself how to push itself forward across different terrain on its flippers.
Costing just $70, the bots are cheap enough to be considered disposable, and the researchers hope that fleets of the bots could eventually be used to detect and map landmines.

BitBarista

BitBarista is an autonomous coffee machine, designed to function with the minimum of human interaction.
The Delonghi coffee machine has been augmented with a Raspberry Pi, allowing it to sell coffee in return for bitcoin, and to pay punters bitcoin for basic maintenance, such as filling up its water supply or restocking it with coffee beans.
Built by a team at the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Design Informatics, this automation project also helps spread social awareness by asking punters to order new coffee bean supplies, based on the information it shows them about quality, price, and the environmental and social impact of ordering different beans.
The attached Pi enhances the machine in various ways, allowing it to read signals from coffee machines sensors, controls its functions, and connect to the Internet. It is also fitted with a small camera to read smart codes, so it can make Bitcoin payments directly to customers' Bitcoin wallets.

Robocod

Of course, not every Pi-powered project is serious, some are downright silly, while still being technically quite impressive.
A case in point is Robocod, a project which uses the Pi to create the world's first vehicle driven by a fish.
The movement is controlled by the fish, computer vision tracks its location and as it swims around, the Pi moves the tank in the corresponding direction.

 

 

 

The lifespan of a blog

Blogs, like any written material, have a shelf-life. Some are short-term, others are long-term, and most of us, whether intentional or not, write both versions. Think about literature. Most of us could name a book by Charles Dickens, or Mark Twain or Edgar Allen Poe. I imagine seeing those names immediately stirred a title or a quote in your mind. I went to "The Raven" instantly.

Now, think about the one million books you find on Amazon. How many authors or titles can you think of close to a million. Probably not many, though you may know a bunch. Why? Of course, you haven't been exposed to most, but why would you know A Christmas Carol and not Objective-Oriented Java Script by Ved Antonia and Stoyan Stefnor? Two reasons, basically. One, A Christmas Carol is a timeless tale about life. It continues to inspire the good in all of us, whereas, Objective-Oriented Java Script is not something that affects everyone of us and it is valuable for a period in time.

Your blogs are just like that. Look back through your blog roll and see which ones rank the highest. I bet you find that they are the ones that will be timeless (at least to a point). They will be about clients relations, circumstances, both good and bad, and how you handled them, techniques to secure leads and things that affect your daily life. They will be local sights and historically important things about your community. They will be about emotion and triumph.

I still remember a line by perfect essays from many years ago encouraging us to "be the pig." But, I don't remember Dick's market reports. I know he does great ones, and I'm always impressed with his content and format, and I've followed in his footsteps, but why don't I remember them? They're not for me. They're for people searching for homes in Fort Collins, CO.

Now, look at the low ranking blogs. They will be about market reports and local events. They rank high for the immediate time around the release and then they trim off hits as time moves away from the information. And, you know what? That's how they're designed. They are to attract the attention of the "then interested" web-searcher who is trying to gather information about your community.

Those types of blogs are short-term. They serve a very distinct purpose, and when that purpose is fulfilled, they will garner minimal attention, but that is what Objective-Oriented Java Script is all about. It's answering questions for the moment. It's important to those who need that information right now. They won't need it in five years. They need it today.

You want to write both types of blogs. You want some to be timeless (or as timeless as possible), and you want some to be short-term. Both have an audience, and both draw attention to your wit, wisdom and expertise. I encourage everyone to write market reports and about local events. They're the Java Script of the real estate world, but you should also write about great client relations, extraordinary events and cats. People love reading about cats, but they also want an agent who is great to work with. Blogs have a lifespan and you are nurturing it on both ends of it.
